1. When is the best time to go according to the weather season?
Answer:
The Philippines is hot all year round with three seasons:
• Summer season: March – June (very hot)
• Rainy season: Mid June – October (heavy rain, but still hot with sunshine)
• Winter season: November – February (One of the best times to go as the weather is dry and hot
but there is also a gentle breeze to keep you cool, slightly windy)
2. What is the currency in the Philippines?
Answer:
The currency used is the Philippine Peso (PHP). There are many money changers in Puerto Princesa so
changing your cash will be no problem. In the city there are also plenty of ATM machines. Traveler’s checks are
very rarely accepted so it is better to bring cash or card. Here is a useful currency converter:

3. Are there other guests in the mansion or are we alone?
Answer:
When you rent Sunrise Mansion the whole place is exclusively yours, the only other people in the mansion being
our staff who are there to assist you.
4. Is Palawan safe?
Answer:
Yes, the people are very friendly and the city is very safe. Nevertheless we do have 24-hour security to
make you feel more relaxed and secure.
5. How do we travel around?
Answer:
There is a bus stop directly outside of the Sunrise Mansion gates with regular buses, jeepneys and vans (often
overcrowded); or we can arrange a private air-conditioned van; or you may hire our private jeepney.
We can also advise and arrange any excursion you wish to take.
6. What about food and drink?
Answer:
You have three food options:
• Full catering – We have two excellent cooks who offer local or international dishes.
• Self catering – When you arrive we can take you shopping for your groceries and to the local market for
your meat and fish, and then you can cook for yourselves.
• With advance notice, our staff can cook for you. The cooking charge will be based on the number of guests and the menu. The rate will be agreed upon booking.
If you wish to eat out at a nearby restaurant we can provide a free transfer for you.
7. Is the water safe to drink?
Answer:
The tap water is safe for washing, showering and cleaning your teeth. However you should always drink purified water,
which we provide through a hot and cold purified water dispenser in the Mansion. The first 5 gallon container is
complimentary; we always have a good stock of drinking water which costs PHP 70 per additional 5 gallon container.
8. What if I get ill?
Answer:
We have first-aid at the Mansion. For more serious problems we have a 24-hour satellite clinic nearby or we can take
you to the hospital in the city. We always have a vehicle on standby in case of emergency.
9. Can I use my mobile phone?
Answer:
Yes we have very good mobile reception here. There are two mobile providers here in the Philippines (Globe and Smart);
the best reception at Sunrise Mansion is Globe. The cheapest way to make calls abroad would be to buy a Globe Sim card
when you arrive (under PHP 100) and then you can simply load the card as you please. Of course if you have Skype you
can call for free because our Internet connection is very good.
10. Will there be a language problem?
Answer:
No. All our staff speak fluent English and most people in the Philippines speak very reasonable English as it is their
second language.
11. Shopping?
Answer:
Puerto Princesa has many shopping malls and souvenir gift shops. There is also a multi-screen cinema at Robinsons
Mall.
12. Are there any nearby Restaurants?
Answer:
Yes, we have nearby resorts which have a bar and restaurant next to the beach.
13. Do we need to bring our own towels?
Answer:
We have towels for use at the Mansion and pool area however you may want to bring your own towel for the beach and
excursions.
14. Do you have a microwave?
Answer:
Yes, the kitchen is fully equipped with oven, grill, rice cooker, steamer, pressure cooker, toaster and cooking
utensils.
15. Will my electrical appliances work?
Answer:
The Philippines uses 220 volts at 50 Hertz. Most modern adapters can work with 110V up to 240V automatically,
but please check your devices before travel. We have a 110V transformer available upon request.
The Philippines uses U.S.-style plugs, and we have adapters to accommodate plugs from most other countries.
